Antoon Melissen

Antoon Melissen is a curator and author specializing in European art of the 1960s and 1970s. He has written monographs on, among others, Armando, Jan Henderikse, and Jan Schoonhoven. He is currently working on the catalogue raisonnés of Jan Schoonhoven’s reliefs and Armando’s works from the ZERO period, as well as on a monograph on Lothar Wolleh.

Since 2015, he has written catalogue texts for museums and institutions in the Netherlands and internationally, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice).

As a writer and researcher, he has been involved since 2020 in publications and exhibitions of the Lothar Wolleh Estate in Berlin. His writings contribute significantly to the contextualization of Lothar Wolleh’s photographic work, particularly his portraits of leading postwar artists.
